The Boilermakers are dedicated and determined to provide our members a higher standard of living through quality craftsmanship and excellent wages and benefits with our signatory contractors. The Boilermakers Pension is ranked in the top five (5) ERISA Pension Plans.  It is a great time to join our craft because economic projections suggest that this year is the beginning of a long boom in construction and maintenance work in electric power plants, refineries, and other industries served by Boilermakers.

Requirements for Journeyman Boilermaker

An applicant must have a minimum of three (3) years
of verifiable experience in the Boilermaker field.
Applicants must provide any of the following
acceptable items.

  1. Payroll check stubs (Boilermaker Contractors)
  2. W-2 Forms
  3. Social Security records
  4. Payroll records

How do I prepare for the trade?

The following will be helpful:

  • Math Course
  • Reading
  • Welding
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Mechanical

Boilermaker Apprenticeship Program

The program was established to promote efficient and high quality field construction by skilled craftsmen in the boilermaker trade. The program provides an opportunity for a person to work through self-studies, on-the-job training, and participate in classroom instruction at the National Training Center located in Kansas City, KS or Local Training Centersthroughout the United States.

Deciding to become a field construction boilermaker apprentice may be the single most important decision of your life. Apprentices are a “vital” part of construction project teams.

How do I qualify?

The following are necessary:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Previous experience helpful
  • Transportation
  • Mandatory Drug Test (MOST)
